Repairs: If your computer or a part of your computer is not
working properly we will diagnose the problem and provide a software
fix or replace the non-working component. If we cannot find the problem the diagnostic is free.
Upgrades: We can upgrade just about anything in your
computer, and offer expert advice on choosing components.
Built new for you: We will customize a machine to match
your price range and requirements, install all software and even set
up the machine in your home or office. We can recommend system
configurations based on your daily computer use.
Laptops:
Laptops are more difficult to upgrade and/or diagnose than
desktop computers, but we can easily upgrade the hard disk and
memory for you. If you find that your laptop fan is very loud
and/or running all the time, we can take apart most machines and
clean out the dust that accumulates; this is more time-consuming and
difficult on some models than others, but will reduce the amount of
noise generated by your computer and will more importantly extend
your computer's life.
One repair that is very common in laptops is replacing the cable which controls the screen. If the laptop's screen appears to be dead when the machine is turned on, we can diagnose the problem and replace the cable or, if necessary, even the screen itself. The parts and labor for this repair usually total about $160 through Don't Get Burned; you will usually be quoted over $300 by the laptop manufacturer or other repair services.
Home (and Office) Networks:
We can help you set up a secure home network, including wireless printing from a laptop to a printer on your network or connected to another computer. We will teach you the steps so that you can add other computers or printers whenever you want.
Data Backup:
We can help you backup your data to an external hard disk or to
CD/DVD/Blu-ray disks. We can even store these disks for you
for enhanced protection. If you do not have an external hard drive we will help you buy one and install it.
Operating System (OS) and Software:
We deal mainly with Windows-based PCs. We can help you upgrade to Windows 7. If you need help installing new software or just keeping your computer running smoothly, we can help. We will install and
perform anti-virus and malware scans, update your Windows operating system and hardware drivers, and help you install other programs as needed.
Printers:
We can help you choose a printer to best fit your needs and
install it for you, but we do not repair broken printers. We will
also will replace your ink or toner cartridges (not a free service).
Monitors:
We will help you choose a monitor, explain how to use it, and/or
deliver it as part of a computer package, but we do not repair
broken monitors (but we can help you figure out if yours is really broken).
